Curb Appeal for Elkins Park Residence

Elkins Park, PA

This beautiful English Tudor style home, in the Philadelphia, PA suburb of Elkins Park, needed a little Tender Loving Care (TLC) to bring it back to its shiny happy self. After recently moving into the new home and working on the interior, the client wanted to turn her attention to the exterior, where unruly shrubs and unsightly weeds masked its hidden beauty.

On her wish list was a front driveway garden, new trees and shrubs, pruning, foundation plantings, grasses and ground covers, just to name a few. Most of all, the client wanted to smile when she pulled up the driveway.

During our initial site visit, Flower Powered determined her visual aesthetic, priorities and plant preferences. We then presented a budget and a landscape design plan to help her visualize the proposed transformation. Two color renderings were developed that helped the client visualize the two main gardens. One for the front curb garden, and the other along the front door pathway and foundation area.

The front driveway garden was where our landscape designer put the WOW factor. We wanted to add a statement piece and a touch of whimsy, so we proposed and installed a beautiful Weeping Blue Cedar Serpentine.

In addition to the ornamental evergreen, we planted a small Purple-Leaf Plum Tree in the front lawn, a Laceleaf Japanese Maple near the front door and a Green Giant Arborvitae near the side door in order to hide an electrical box.

For the home's foundation garden, we added a row of Big Blue Liriope and Green Gem Boxwoods along the pathway, a border of River Rock to extend the front stoop and Pachysanda for ground cover.

Needless to say, we were very happy with the final landscape design results and so was the client. Take a look and get in touch with us today!
